Question:  What's the weather like in Thailand?

Answer:  Visit my Current Time and Weather page.  Also, you can visit www.weather.com and search for Thailand to find out yearly averages as well as weather forecasts.

Question:  Are you more nervous or excited about your trip?

Answer:  Interesting question!  :-)  Definitely NOT nervous.  I am the kind of person who delights in visiting new places and meeting new people.  As a Christian, I trust God to take care of me.  Nevertheless, I am not stupid and avoid potentially dangerous situations (see Matthew 3:7).

As about excited, I am counting days!!!  :-)  Yes, I am VERY excited although I know I will be totally exhausted.  It will be a lot of work but experience is priceless.

Question:  Every country has its own way things are supposed to be done.  For example, in some countries you never see a woman's face.  In other countries, you never see the bottom of your shoe.  What do they do in Thailand?

Answer:  Thai people consider head to be the most sacred part of the entire body.  Therefore, you never pat anybody on his/her head, even if he/she is a child.  Also, they dress conservativately.  Here, sleveless clothing is no big deal.  There, it may even be forbidden in certain places, like a temple.  Women are forbidden to touch monks.  Another interesting thing is that you must remove shoes before entering anybody's house.

Here, we fry almost anything and use large quantities of oil and/or butter.  Thai cooks avoid fats.  There is a saying that American food is easy to prepare but difficult to eat (think steak -- does not take long to prepare but requires knife and fork as well as some effort); Thai food is difficult to prepare but easy to eat (each dish looks like it was prepared for the culinary show -- yet, it's mostly finger foods).
